Perhaps the attraction to attend these meetings is the free breakfast and the cookies rather than the substance of the meetings.
In my law practice of over 50 years, I have attended business lunches but found that discussion of actual business was a diversion. Some people just like a free meal. Often the business aspect of such lunches could have been accomplished in a few minutes. Did I complain? Well, I did get a free meal and billable hours. But much of it was social. Meantime, tax deductions were taken for the costs of the business lunches. I guess these lunches may have kept some restaurants going. My complaint basically was and is that my time could have been better spent in representing my clients by dealing with them without the interference of the lunch. In addition, when I could get time for a long lunch, I preferred not talking about business and preferred lunching with friends, paying for my own lunch, without a tax deduction, without billing someone for my time.

Wow! life sure is rough for the poor harvardonians, I went to a tech school in Missoula Montana, my janatorial work study job ran out of funding 6 weeks befor the end of the 3rd quarter - I slept in my pickup truck for the last 3 weeks of school in an extreme arctic mummy bag at -15 to -35F below zero - you may guess my sympathy level for these coddled whiners… sheesh, hope they never have to face the horrors of the real world.

This article went in search of coddled whiners and — surprise! — it found them. One would hope they do not represent a majority of the current students there, but there’s no way of telling from the article.
