Political scientist John Hibbing on "The Daily Show"

John Hibbing had his fifteen seconds of fame last night on “The Daily Show.” For those who, like me, retire for the evening shortly after dining on the early bird special, here’s a replay.

That was entertaining. And they didn’t do the obligatory “make fun of the hayseeds in Nebraska” joke.

It’s hard to figure how best to play an interview like that. Do you play the straight man or do you loosen up a bit? Some Congressmen loosened up on “know a district” and ended up looking like fools, but you if don’t play along you come across as a stick-in-the-mud who doesn’t get the joke.

Very funny! I am inclined to be sympathetic to spoofs of such reductionist explanations of political thinking.
