Carlin was a comedian with a brain, somewhat in the vein of Mark Twain. A great loss.

But I shall not forgive George Carlin for his "Hippy-Dippy" weather man routine that goes back to his early years. It was of course hilarious. But it became the paradigm, perhaps unwittingly, for real weather men/women subsequently. So now we have to suffer through "show-biz" weather reports when all we want to know is whether we will need an umbrella today.

Fortunately, videos of his performances are available, in addition to his books. His manipulation of the English language is well illustrated by this schtick:
